E-Day, Galactic Racer and AION 2: October 2026 PC Performance Roundup

2026-10-19

October 2026 delivered three major PC releases within weeks of each other. All three are now in the database, with performance curves fitted to published benchmarks — here is what to expect from each, and where the settings money is.

Gears of War: E-Day: demanding engine, sensible requirements

E-Day has a hard floor: it requires a GPU with hardware ray tracing, so pre-RTX GeForce and pre-RX 6000 Radeon cards cannot launch it at all. If your card qualifies, our curve (fitted to TechSpot's 44-GPU benchmark) puts a 5090-class build around 150 FPS at 1080p High, an RTX 4060 tier at about 54, and an RTX 3060 tier at about 48.

The first thing to fix is the preset menu itself. Ludicrous costs roughly double the performance of Ultra for almost no visible difference, and the steps down from there are worth about 22% (Ultra to High) and 12% (High to Medium) each. Textures are safe to leave high too — the game has no VRAM pressure at 8GB.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer: the friendly one

Unreal Engine 5.7 with Lumen and Nanite, 60 FPS at 1080p Epic from an RTX 4060 Ti or RX 6800 class card, and 1440p Epic opening up around the RX 7800 XT / RTX 4070 level. DLSS 4.5 with Multi Frame Generation, FSR 4 and XeSS 2.1 are all on board.

Our Galactic Racer estimates span 58 FPS (RTX 3060 tier) to 140 FPS (5090 tier) at 1080p High. One caveat: the built-in benchmark area is heavier than most race tracks, so if you hold a steady 60 there you have headroom everywhere else.

AION 2: smooth until the crowds arrive

NCSoft's official specs tell the real story: an RTX 2070 is the recommended GPU for 1080p — at the Low preset. Community benchmarks show midrange cards holding 60-80 FPS in the open world, then dropping to 25-30 in towns and raids. That is CPU behaviour, not GPU: mass PvP can drag even top-tier CPUs below 20 FPS.

At 1080p High our AION 2 estimates run from 60 (RTX 3060 tier) to 130 (5090 tier), but the settings matter: effect quality, volumetric light scattering, swapping ambient occlusion to NCAO and pulling view distance back to Normal are together worth around 25% before you even touch upscaling.

Make the numbers personal

Five-tier tables give you the ballpark, but your exact GPU and CPU decide the rest. Run your parts through the FPS calculator with any of these games preselected, or set a target FPS in the optimizer and it will pick the cheapest settings to get you there.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives on October 23 — it joins the database as soon as public benchmarks land.
